In topic this week we started our new topic on the Titanic. We watched a video clip of the Titanic sinking and thought about the questions that we would like to find out about the event. We then used Ipads to find out facts about the Titanic and discussed the different reasons why the Titanic sank. Here are some examples of the children’s fantastic research.

On Monday I asked the children to write a non-chronological report and write as many facts as they could remember about T-Rex.  I was amazed by how much Molly had remembered from last year. She used all of the correct features and remembered so many facts about T-Rex. Excellent work Molly!

English

In English this week we have started planning our own newspaper reports recounting the events that happen in the Little Red Riding Hood Story. We wanted to make sure that we included all of the correct features so spent a lot of the week planning and making sure that we have included snazzy sentence starters, expanded noun phrases and speech. Then, the children started writing up their newspaper reports and have tried really hard to ensure that their handwriting is extra neat and tidy.  Here are some great examples of the children’s plans.

Shout out to Charley and Katalina who only got 2 questions wrong in the whole test! Super work!!! Here are some examples of the children’s work from this week.

Topic

In Topic this week, we have been learning about the Continents of our world and the 5 Oceans. We came up with some funny actions to help us remember the names of each of the Continents and Oceans and then had a little quiz to see if the children could remember the positions of each of the Continents and Oceans. I was super impressed with the children as they learnt the names so quickly and could all point to the correct position of the Continents and Oceans on our map. We then looked at where Dinosaur fossils have been found and placed the different Dinosaurs on our map to show which Continents they used to live in. Here are some examples of the children’s excellent Geography work.
