English

In English this week, the children have been writing biographies as this is the text type that we are going to be focusing on this term. Whilst I was off, the children created a biography about myself. They came up with lots of facts about me as a class and created a mind map to help them plan their biography. Then they had a go at writing without any assistance. I was blown away by the children’s work. They were fantastic and they remembered so much about me. I especially liked the pictures that the children drew and the adjectives they used to describe me:)

Here are some fantastic examples of the children’s work below.

Maths

In maths this week, we have been dividing by 2. The children have worked really hard to use the division symbol correctly and have been showing their working out in order to check that their answers are right. We have also been focusing on understanding the importance of division as sharing equally, not just sharing and have been using sweets to demonstrate this (which the kids have loved doing). Here are some examples of the children’s super work!

Harvest festival

Thank you so much to parents, carers and adults for coming to watch our harvest assembly on Thursday morning. Despite some technical difficulties, the children sang beautifully. They have worked really hard and I definitely think that we have some future X factor stars in the making.

Maths

This week in maths, we have been practicing counting in twos. I was amazed by how much the children had remembered from out lessons last year. They have become very confident with counting in 2’s both forwards and backwards.

We have also been multiplying by 2 and have been writing multiplication calculations using the x and = signs. The children have done fantastically. They are starting to use multiplication more confidently and solve calculations involving multiplication which is fantastic! Some examples of the children’s work are below.
